This 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL fastback was refurbished following the seller’s 2016 purchase. Refinished in red over black, the car was then fitted with a 406ci V8 that was later bored .060″ over and features flat-top pistons, ported and flowed COAE cylinder heads, Cobra Jet valves, and ceramic-coated headers. The suspension was also overhauled, and front disc brakes were installed. Other equipment includes a Borg-Warner T-10 four-speed manual transmission, an Eaton Truetrac limited-slip differential, power steering, 15″ steel wheels, a retro-style AM/FM/Bluetooth push-button radio, a Hurst shifter, and SelectAire air conditioning.
Originally finished in Corinthian White (M), the car was stripped to bare metal, received bodywork, and was refinished in red during the refurbishment which saw the body removed from the frame. Exterior equipment includes quad headlights, dual side mirrors, back-up lights, dual exhaust outlets, Galaxie 500XL badging, and chrome bumpers and trim.
The 15″ steel wheels feature bright covers and are mounted with 215/70 Toyo Extensa A/S whitewall tires. The suspension and brake components were overhauled during the project, with front disc brakes added at that time.
The refreshed cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl that are accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, headliner, door panels, and carpeting, the latter of which is installed over Dynamat sound-dampening material. Interior appointments include a locking glovebox, a fire extinguisher, a retro-style AM/FM/Bluetooth push-button radio, JBL speakers, a Hurst shifter, and SelectAire air conditioning. The rear floor pans and trunk floor were replaced.
The three-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature, while an oil pressure gauge is mounted beneath the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
